This comedy celebrates an unsung hero and tips the modern office on its head. In a toe-tapping twist there’s a different choir on stage every night, but none have read the script. Featuring contemporary hits from Aotearoa, India and a fresh take on classic tunes, this hilarious drama is elevated by the beauty and power of people harmonising in song.

The computers are down and the big boss in India wants the impossible. A hapless middle manager, his unhelpful assistant and their chorus of office workers are making a mess of things. Which isn’t good news for the cleaner.

Workplace hierarchies are shattered, class and culture clash and from the chaos emerges a different way to value one another.

Born out of a collaboration with choral master John Rosser and leading choir Viva Voce, and featuring over 20 people on stage, Indian Ink take things up an octave in their biggest show ever.

The company’s award-winning creative team continue to weave their magic. Jacob Rajan zooms in for a very special guest appearance, Justin Rogers returns following his brilliant performance in Mrs Krishnan’s Party and is joined by rising stars Tessa Rao and Catherine Yates.

Don’t miss this world première that finds joy in the eternal toil of work.

This story of Heidi, the little orphan girl who brings new hope to everyone her life touches, glows even more endearingly today than it has for generations. The way Heidi brings her gruff, old hermit grandfather back into the world and helps Clara, the invalid child, find health and happiness portrays the charming sentiment of the old world.

Heidi would say that everyone will love seeing this beautiful story brought to life on stage - and Heidi wouldn't lie.

Nelson Youth Theatre Company presents Heidi along with other short plays featuring young local talent.

Nelson Repertory Theatre presents Camelot The Panto, the story of the love between Princess Guinevere and the handsome Prince Arthur.

The romance appears doomed to failure when the Princess is kidnapped at the wedding by the evil Morgan Le Fay and her followers Valerin the Vicious and his Mum, together with Knight Marlon and Garlon the invisible knight.

But the evil kidnappers did not reckon with the determination of Nurse Connie Clatterbottom and her friends Laughalot and a dancing bear called Teddy, as well as the returning powers of Merlin.

This is a pantomime to be enjoyed by all ages with lots of laughs, wonderful songs and plenty of magic.

Get to know Anita Wigl'it, star of 'RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under' in this kooky, hilarious and tell all one-woman show, 'The Life of a Funny Girl!'

Over a fabulous 90 minutes, travel back in time to 1989 when a little boy with a big personality was born. Then follow him as he grows up into the glamorous Drag Queen that we all know and love (life stories told in hilarious anecdotes interspersed with dazzling shows!).

This show will give you belly laughs, will make you cry and will definitely make you Wigl'it!!

There are some adult themes and language in the show so we suggest R16, but we understand there are many youth who are fans of Anita and Drag Race so underage audience members are welcome with a guardian in attendance.

Limited VIP/Meet & Greet Tickets (pre-show meet and greet and photo, premium reserved seating); all other seats General Admission.

Nelson Repertory Theatre presents Agatha Christie's Murder on the Nile.

A honeymoon cruise down the Nile sounds like the perfect way to get away from it all. But the tranquil warm darkness of an Egyptian evening can change fast when the air is thick with hot passion and cold malice. Temperatures rise and a gunshot rings out.

Under scrutiny are a diverse bunch of memorable passengers. The boat is awash with motives to kill. The tension and claustrophobia builds, and just when you think you’ve guessed the murderer, Agatha adds another twist.

This is a story of passion, rivalry and revenge - can you work out whodunnit?

Theatre meets dance meets song meets the immutable power of Janet Frame’s words in award-winning Red Leap Theatre’s energetic contemporary response to Owls Do Cry.

Surprising, poetic and moving, this show delves into the sumptuous world of Frame and the Withers’ siblings — Daphne, Chicks, Toby and Francie — and their lives in small-town Aotearoa following a family tragedy.

Going beyond a direct narrative staging of the book, Red Leap and director Malia Johnston (WOW, Meremere) have created a multi- disciplinary dreamscape of wonder, filled with Frame’s rich imagery and poetry, and an extraordinary cast including Nelsonian Comfrey Sanders, award-winning choreographer/dancer Ross McCormack, and actor Arlo Gibson of Shortland Street fame.

“I’m left with sheer joy of witnessing image of beauty, light and poetry.” – Pantograph Punch

The last New Zealand war took place in Auckland in 1979.
It lasted three minutes.

The Haka Party Incident resurrects the eventful day when a group of University of Auckland engineering students rehearsing their annual tradition of a mock haka are confronted by the activist group, He Taua. The incident sent ripples through the nation and changed race relations in New Zealand forever.

Crafted by film-maker and theatre director Katie Wolfe, The Haka Party Incident is verbatim theatre that innovatively combines documentary and kapa haka to thrilling effect. Provocative, resonant and unforgettable. A not-to-be-missed landmark theatre event.

Join us 5pm Saturday 23 Oct for a panel discussion inspired by The Haka Party Incident. More details on nelsonartsfestival.nz.
