Once upon a time...is a theatrical extravaganza of some of the world's most well known stories, movies and music of our time. Shown through the mediums of Dance, Drama, Singing, Musical Theatre, Acrobatics, Cheerleading and Music. Performed by the students from A STAR Academy of the Arts and friends. Performers range in age from 3 years to Adult. This event is a fundraiser for the Salvation Army of Nelson, helping them with their good works and long standing provision to the people of Nelson.

The very best of Nayland College Performing Arts will be on stage at the Theatre Royal in celebration of the school's 50th Jubilee year. The Nelson/Tasman TheatresportsTM Competition brings together teams of talented young improvisors from local high schools. The participants are tutored throughout the year by members of the Down with Monday Theatre Company and their school coordinator.
No one knows what will come to life on the stage. It is on-the-spot creativity and the stakes are high... the winning teams are sent off to the big smoke- Christchurch! They get to perform in the new Court Theatre and compete for a place in the South Island Theatresports Competition.
Whatever the outcome, this competition promises a great night of entertainment and a wonderful group of young people who are bravely stepping into the unknown together- get your tickets today!

Step back 2000 years into the misty realm of a forgotten time, for NZ's dramatic premier of a Welsh Celtic epic, charting the adventures of, "Prince Mabon".
Join us in this magical Celtic tale of Heroes, Heroines, Druids, Sorcerers, Gods of the underworld and their Wolves! Prince Mabon's and Rhiannon's path to love and peace, is fraught with Prophecy, Greed, Dark Magik and the threat of the Romans! The journey is a dramatic adventure to rescue the Deme tribe's village and Rhiannon, from the Darklord's curse, before the last leaf on the tree of life burns out and the village and girl disappear into a wintry darkness for eternity. But the waring King of the Sils tribe, has other plans for them, and will delve into dark Magik to claim victory for himself! Who will be victorious, who will take the Quest, who will make it out alive? Only the Gods know!
The staging of this story aims to be an exciting presentation to both youth and adults alike, with something for everyone, be it the authentic costume, sword, spear and axe fighting, live drumming, special effects film projection and other effects treats!
Presented by "Live Theatre Company", of Nelson/Tasman, an exciting collaboration between industry professionals and new talents from across the regions, supported by Creative NZ, Tasman County Council, Nelson City Council and NMIT.
