Compagnia Baccalà (Switzerland)

An extraordinary physical performance blending contemporary clowning with theatre and circus.

Inspired by the era of silent films, two characters take to the empty stage in a timeless performance of enthralling physicality and exquisite humour. Poetic, surreal, ironic, acrobatic and infinitely enjoyable, they play out their unique and hilarious pas de deux through the universal language of gesture and look, without a single word being spoken.

Inventive and exciting, the characters' breath-taking fumble through mishaps, acrobatics and life will have you laughing long after you leave the theatre.

"Sometimes a show is such a total delight that it is hard to write about it without just gushing 'See it, see it!' - Pss Pss is such a show. See it, see it." TOTAL THEATRE

"... this gentle child-like dance of love and friendship transcends language and utterly captivates with imagination and fun." EDINBURGH GUIDE

He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command. Its sensational, smash hit score includes "Think of Me", "Angel of Music", "Music of the Night", "All I ask of You", "Masquerade" and the title song "Phantom of the Opera."

Nelson Youth Theatre Company is delighted to present one of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. A joyous retelling of the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven scheming brothers and his coat of many colours, Joseph is a kaleidoscope of catchy songs and colourful dance numbers - Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door to Me and Go Go Go Joseph - parodying various musical styles from rock 'n roll to country and western, French ballad, calypso and jazz.

The UK's longest-running musical, which has enjoyed three West End productions, one on Broadway, and continues to tour the US and UK, Joseph launched the careers of both Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, who went on to become one of the most successful musical theatre partnerships of all time.

The ultimate feel-good show, Joseph will once again see Nelson audiences cheering the music of Lloyd Webber.

A play for two actors
Written by Michael Hedley Burton and performed by Michael Burton and Ryan Kouroukis

Rudolf Steiner's Threefold Social Organism was an attempt to make war impossible. 100 years later, could its time be now?

In 1917 the Austrian social reformer Rudolf Steiner described his vision of the Threefold Social Organism (Threefold Social Order) in an attempt to rescue Germany from a devastating World War. By limiting the power of the state, Steiner showed how war could become impossible. Two actors, playing a dozen parts between them, show how the rulers of the time received this idea. Steiner failed then, but the question we must ask today is do we want to continue with forms of government arising out of the nineteenth century? Could the Threefold Social Organism be the blueprint for something that will work in our time?

Nelson Repertory Theatre presents Love, Love, Love , a play that is so titled, in part, because of the lyrics in the Beatles song All You Need Is Love.

London, 1967. Beatlemania is in full effect, the "Me" generation is in its prime and Kenneth and Sandra have the world at their fingertips. It's the summer of love, and that's all they need. But what will happen when the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll fade away and these boomers have babies of their own?

Love, Love, Love is the "riveting and exhilarating" (The Guardian) comedy from Olivier Award winner Mike Bartlett. Hugh Neill directs Love Love Love and lays bare the consequences of growing older without growing up!

A 1940's story about the world at home.

Rosie Can Do It is a story about the world at home in New Zealand during World War II. The title and theme for this year's annual SOUNDSTAGE concert is inspired by the iconic image of Rosie the Riveter from the World War II propaganda poster "We Can Do It". As relevant today, as then, the show explores the roles that we play in work and at home and the dreams and expectations that drive us to follow our hearts and fulfil our obligations to ourselves and our community.

Our largely female cast will prove that girls can do anything, especially if you are ready with a pair of gumboots. All singing, all dancing and all inspired by a backdrop of swinging 1940's classics and timeless modern anthems, our cast of many will delight and entertain you and leave you feeling that together we can achieve anything.

Presented by the 2017 students of SOUNDSTAGE Nelson and written and complied by Jane Winter.

SOUNDSTAGE music and performing arts school has been offering professional music and performing arts tuition to the talent of Nelson for the last 10 years.
