Following the success of The Armed Man, the Nelson Civic Choir and orchestra returns with another Karl Jenkins work: his Stabat Mater.
Karl Jenkins is one of the world's most popular living composers. As in his well-known Adiemus, in Stabat Mater he blends harmonies from popular and classical music, making the piece engaging for modern audiences. The work reflects on the suffering of Mary, mother of Jesus, at the time of the Crucifixion, and includes an arrangement of the Ave Verum, a movement And The Mother Did Weep sung simultaneously in many languages; Lament, written by Jenkins' wife Carol Barratt and Incantation, sung partly in early Arabic.
The very best of Nayland College Performing Arts will be on stage at the Theatre Royal in celebration of the school's 50th Jubilee year. The evening will feature performances from Dance Company, Concert Band, Girls Choir - Sotto Voce. Boys Choir - AugMENted, Songs from the 2016 School Production 'Annie Get Your Gun' and Jazz Band.
