Disney's musical tale of the Hans Christian Andersen classic comes to life on the stage. Nelson Youth Theatre Company invites you to journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr!

Nelson's talented young performers will bring the tale of Disney's animated film The Little Mermaid to life in a wonderful stage production the whole family will enjoy. In a magical kingdom fathoms below, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she's the girl with the enchanting voice.

Adapted from Disney's 2008 Broadway production, Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr features the hit songs "Part of Your World," "She's in Love," and the Oscar®-winning "Under the Sea."

Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr contains all of the ingredients of a classic Broadway musical - great songs, wonderful production numbers, our plucky heroine, wacky sidekick and of course, the evil villain! Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance.

A 1940's story about the world at home.

Rosie Can Do It is a story about the world at home in New Zealand during World War II. The title and theme for this year's annual SOUNDSTAGE concert is inspired by the iconic image of Rosie the Riveter from the World War II propaganda poster "We Can Do It". As relevant today, as then, the show explores the roles that we play in work and at home and the dreams and expectations that drive us to follow our hearts and fulfil our obligations to ourselves and our community.

Our largely female cast will prove that girls can do anything, especially if you are ready with a pair of gumboots. All singing, all dancing and all inspired by a backdrop of swinging 1940's classics and timeless modern anthems, our cast of many will delight and entertain you and leave you feeling that together we can achieve anything.

Presented by the 2017 students of SOUNDSTAGE Nelson and written and complied by Jane Winter.

SOUNDSTAGE music and performing arts school has been offering professional music and performing arts tuition to the talent of Nelson for the last 10 years.

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC

One of the world's best-loved musicals, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, will tour New Zealand this September and October.

From the producer of the recent touring stage shows Grease, HMS Pinafore, Menopause the Musical and South Pacific, THE SOUND OF MUSIC will be performed in 20 cities throughout New Zealand.

This legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein musical features an unforgettable score that includes some of the most famous songs ever performed on the musical stage including "My Favorite Things", "Edelweiss", "Do-Re-Mi", "Sixteen Going on Seventeen", "The Lonely Goatherd", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", and the title song "The Sound of Music".

THE SOUND OF MUSIC tells the uplifting true story of Maria, the fun-loving governess who changes the lives of the widowed Captain von Trapp and his seven children by re-introducing them to music, culminating in the family's escape across the mountains from Austria.

The musical originally premiered on Broadway in 1959 to record-breaking advance ticket sales, where it won eight Tony Awards - including "Best Musical". The show opened in London in 1961 and became the longest-running American musical of its generation. The 1965 Hollywood film, which starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, won five Oscars, including "Best Picture", and quickly became the highest-grossing film in history. Even today, THE SOUND OF MUSIC remains the most successful movie musical in history.

Since the turn of the 21st century, the enduring magic of THE SOUND OF MUSIC has lead to major productions around the world, giving testament to its title as "The World's Most Popular Musical".

A comedy about love, death and preserves

Rip the lid off a jar of utterly delicious theatre, bursting with wit, wonder and the faint whiff of death.

Sasha, the blind receptionist of the crumbling Empire Hotel, knows she is cursed – everything she loves dies. But when true love finds her, she can’t help falling. One night, Death checks into the hotel.

Belly laughs combine with throat-catching pathos to create a sophisticated modern fable that is “an intelligent and hilarious celebration of human resilience” – The Scotsman

The Pickle King is Indian Ink’s most awarded play; winning an Edinburgh Fringe First, a record seven nominations at the Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards and the supreme accolade – Production of the Year.

For our twentieth anniversary we’ve made a significant change in this vintage Indian Ink script to centre the love story around a same sex couple. Whilst this contemporary update would have been a real statement 15 years ago – today it just reflects the diverse culture of New Zealand.

All wrapped up “in a package of good plain laughs, luminous performances and brilliant staging” (Dominion Post) this timeless tale highlights the injustices of immigration and globalisation, and having the courage to love, no matter your gender.
