Nadia Reid is praised the world over for her intimate, complex songwriting. She is described by The Guardian as 'an understated, wise guide through uncertain territory', while her lyrics are called 'allegorical... brutally honest' by The Revue. What brings Reid's lyrics to life is her unique voice and accompanying soundscapes that seem to at once evoke the rugged beaches and mountains of Aotearoa, the Port Chalmers harbour of her home, and the roaming, open territory of the road.
In March of 2020, Reid released her third full-length album 'Out of My Province' via her own label Slow Time Records in New Zealand and Spacebomb for the rest of the world. Performing a handful of release shows just prior to the March lockdown meant there was a brief moment to celebrate the release. The Line of Best Fit declared it Reid's "most polished album to date" with Uncut calling it "her best album yet", awarding it 8/10. Due to COVID-19 disruptions, Reid and her band headed into a Dunedin recording studio at Chicks Hotel in early 2021 to begin work on album four. Their May opera house and theatre tour will showcase Nadia's exceptional body of musical works, as well as have a sneak preview of some of her new creations before signing off to work on finishing her fourth studio album due late 2022.

Composed in 1918, The Soldier’s Tale’s first tour was cut short by the Spanish flu but it has remained a perennially popular work ever since.
Written “to be read, played and danced”, The Soldier’s Tale tells the story of the titular Soldier who makes a deal with the Devil: in exchange for the Soldier’s magic violin, the Devil will grant his every wish. This work is based on a Russian folk tale, was co-created with Swiss writer C.F. Ramuz, and gave Stravinsky the chance to display and include all of his favourite musical influences. You’ll hear tango, waltz, ragtime, Jewish klezmer, church chorales, and the Spanish paso doble all brought together in Stravinsky’s intoxicating score.
In theatres and halls across Auckland and Northland, actors, dancers from the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and an ensemble from the NZSO will present this classic tale of magic, desire and being careful what you wish for.

The Howard Morrison Quartet Take Two led by Howard Morrison Jnr take to the road in February with a two hour show to celebrate and recreate the magic of the New Zealand entertainment phenomenon that was the original Howard Morrison Quartet with superb vocals, entertainment, and first hand family stories.
The Howard Morrison Quartet is considered this country’s’ most successful show band who helped to create the New Zealand entertainment industry. Merging family-friendly music with unique New Zealand humour, they toured constantly during the 50’s and 60’s but reformed regularly throughout the subsequent decades to remain hugely popular. Its charismatic lead singer, the iconic Sir Howard Morrison also enjoyed a stellar solo career over many decades plus the love and respect of his country for the huge amount he gave back to the community.
Howard Morrison Jnr and his new Quartet, also featuring Russell Harrison, Chris Powley and Jack Grace (instead of Andre King who recently suffered a serious injury), will faithfully recreate a trip down memory lane for the followers of the original showband plus add new songs and magic of their own. Thanks to Covid these busy performers have been able to take time out from their international commitment to organise this long-awaited national tour in honour of Howie’s Dad and his much loved quartet. Even those not old enough to remember the original icons will be impressed by this super-group of award-winning New Zealand talent. Suitable for all ages.
