In Mystic Time Bird Rhys turns to the world of ancient mysticism to find answers to the world’s problems. In doing so, he discovers that he was a bird in a past life, and this knowledge takes him on an unexpected path. Darby will address the big questions like "Are we truly free in this day and age or is alien technology guiding us into an even greater trap?" All this, plus weird movement and sound effects.
Rhys Darby became a household name after starring in the US TV show Flight of the Conchords. Now based in Los Angeles, he regularly performs standup around the world and has starred in many international TV shows such as The X Files, Netflix’s Voltron, TVNZ’s Short Poppies. He will be seen this year in the Jumanjii sequel with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, Netflix’s Lemony Snicket, Whose Line is it Anyway Australia and many other shows. He’s quite a busy boy so grab a ticket now as we don’t know when he will be back!
Yes they're back! This time with magic! Grumpy Old Women bring their Game of Crones to answer the unanswerable. How to fix absolutely everything!!
They conquered NZ with Grumpy Old Women, took Australia and the Universe by storm with "50 Shades of Beige" and now they're in another World. Yes!
Grumpy Old Women - Game of Crones is coming and it offers practical remedies for the atrocities of modern life.
Advice for administering safe torture to prevent snoring using bbq tools. Demonstrations of how to clean the bath whilst having mediocre sex at the same time. How to overeat on a diet. What to do when the man in your life kisses your miniature Schnauzer more than you. In Game of Crones, the young are discussed and then dismissed. Men are lovingly disembowled. Old fashioned housekeeping practices resurrected; is it too late to learn to sniff meat to determine if its past its use by date?
Grumpy Old Women will stop for nothing on their mission to slay the dragons of nonsense and reclaim the kingdom of common sense ... well maybe a glass of wine and a lie down.
The show has plenty of laughs, poorly supported breasts and unreliable statistics, so for a night of unbridled fun bring your swords and handbags and learn from the sorceresses themselves, how to survive the modern kingdom of Aotearoa.
Geraldine Brophy directs and stars with Lynda Milligan and Julie Edwards in this hilarious piece of fantasy thankfully without nudity or real blood.
Life can throw everything in your path except the kitchen sink, and then it will throw the kitchen sink.
What will you throw at the intrepid cast of Off the Cuff: The Kitchen Sink at this month's improv show?
Will you make us perform the twelve labours of Hercules, photograph the invisible man, spin hay into gold, solve the mystery of alchemy or perhaps even answer the three questions of the keeper of the Bridge of Death? Watch us catch, duck, weave, bob, run and possibly even hide as you throw the kitchen sink at us.
So bring your friends, bring your family, bring your loved ones, bring everything but the kitchen sink along to Off the Cuff: The Kitchen Sink

A fast paced naval romp through the decades.
From the arrival of Captain Cook in 1769 through to protecting trade routes against piracy around the Horn of Africa in 2015, The Complete History of the Royal New Zealand Navy navigates its way around the world's oceans through song, satire and silliness. Don't expect a history lesson but don't be surprised if you learn something.
On a national tour, the show is part of Operation Neptune, 75th Anniversary of the RNZN.
Ooh la la! Something sinister is afoot. New Zealand is under attack from the infamous French Pirate Captain Langlois and his fiendish Gallic rooster, Napoleon.
From the Hauraki Gulf to Foveaux Strait, nowhere is safe from his piratical plundering. When all else fails the nation turns to the Royal New Zealand Navy and courageous Commander Claire to lead the resistance against the feisty French marauder.
A wildly imaginative children’s pantomime with audience participation, puppetry, songs and over-the-shoulder cardboard ships!
The ultimate live cult film experience!
LIVE LIVE CINEMA takes four actor-musicians and pushes their multi-tasking skills to the limit. While Roger Corman's 1960 comic and macabre film plays behind them, the four performers work at break-neck speed to re-voice multiple characters in perfect lip synch, whilst playing a brand new score and creating live sound effects.
With our stars leaping from piano to guitar, bass to door bell, to that thing that makes the sound of footsteps - this is LIVE LIVE CINEMA's most dangerous 4-D movie yet.
It's a wild ride - where you gonna look?

Life's most momentous occasions celebrate new direction, change, a fresh focus, moving on; New Years' resolutions, a break up, moving house, changing jobs, getting married.
So don't get stuck in that rut, throw off those comfy old slippers and come on down to Off the Cuff: Out with the Old, In with the New, Nelson's monthly improv show at the Theatre Royal.
There will be nothing old, in fact it will all be made up on the spot - comedy, songs, drama, poetry, dance - you can't get newer than that! We might sing Old MacDonald, have new adventures, meet some old characters, create a new hope, get a little old school or experience a brave new world.

It's springtime and something isn't right. Where have the bees gone? What has happened to the Queen Bee? Has Bizzy Lizzy the evil Wasp Queen something to do with it?
We know our bee population is declining but Buzzz brings us one particular hive with a story about believing in yourself. A story that says YOU can make a difference.
Buzzz - a brand new pantomime, written here in Nelson has all the traditional panto fun we know and love. Alongside the slapstick, goodies, baddies, the hero and dame is an interactive message we just can't ignore!
Buzzz - can YOU save the bees?
C’mon, you got this. Oh no, he didn’t. No more kidding. Game on. Oh, hell no! It’s going down. Buckle up. Man your stations … cos it’s about to get real.
Things are going to get real at Off the Cuff, Nelson’s monthly improv show at the Theatre Royal on Friday 19th August at 7.30pm.
We don’t know if it’s going to get real scary, real funny, real dramatic, real romantic, real villainous, real serious, real thrilling or real suspenseful, but we do know it’s about to get real. So hang up your rod and reel and the ‘gone fishin’ sign’ and head down to the Theatre Royal for a really great evening of improvised music, comedy and drama.

The time has come
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: of shoes and ships and sealing wax; of cabbages and kings; and why the sea is boiling hot; and whether pigs have wings."
There is never enough time to do all that we want to do, but you need to make the time on Friday 29th July at 7.30pm to come to Off the Cuff: It’s Time, Nelson’s monthly improv show at the Theatre Royal.
We may not talk about shoes and ships and sealing wax or even flying pigs, but we’re sure to talk about time flying, ticking time bombs, running late, having the time of your life, wasted time, get a bit cuckoo over a cuckoo clock or simply do the Time Warp again!
This month we also have special guest Jen O’Sullivan improviser extraordinaire from Wellington giving her time to join us.
Off the Cuff: It’s Time ... Friday 29 July 7.30pm at the Theatre Royal. Bookings are available through Ticket Direct or from the Theatre Royal.
