"The players gave unstintingly of their passion and energies, playing with a spirit so transformational you felt they were actually improving the world." The Strad, October 2012

The Brodsky Quartet's spirited and virtuosic artistry has ensured them a place at the very forefront of the international chamber music scene. This programme opens with Schubert's 'Quartettsatz'. Written in 1820 this is a work in a single movement with a real ebb and flow of tension throughout. Shostakovich's String Quartet No 3 demonstrates his full powers as a chamber music composer, skilfully deploying the string quartet to express his utterly distinctive musical personality. End the evening by being drawn into the Quartet's passionate exploration of the monumental late Beethoven quartet: Opus 132, with its deeply spiritual essence.

Since their formation in 1972, the Brodsky Quartet have given over 3000 concerts and released more than 60 recordings. Sharing their energy and craftsmanship with the next generation, they are currently International Fellows of Chamber Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

An intense evening of brilliance and intimacy.

In less than one year, French pianist Claire Rouault gained an exceptional renown in New Zealand. Claire was chosen amongst the "favorite places and people in NZ" for 2014 by "North&South" magazine.
Claire performed her first solo concert with an orchestra when she was 11 years old. She studied at the National Superior Music Conservatory of Paris, France's top music school (Piano First Prize with honours). She won two major competitions, the Claude Kahn competition (2001) and the Anton Rubinstein Competition (2003).

Together with her partner, Claire created "Piano on Tour", which endeavours to make high quality music concerts more accessible in New Zealand.

The Adam Chamber Music Festival is New Zealand's premiere chamber music event featuring wonderful collaborative chamber music in an excitingly different concert programme.

We are delighted to present the sensational Ying Quartet from the United States and distinguished English pianist Kathryn Stott. Many will recognise Kathy's name from her longtime duo partnership with Yo Yo Ma. New Zealand audiences will be looking forward to experiencing again the stupendous musicianship of the Song Company from Australia.

We are proud to showcase lots of our wonderful NZ composers and of course our leading New Zealand chamber musicians.

Festival time is an opportunity for all of us to leave the world behind and be inspired by the greatness and creativity of our masterful composers, and for us all to share in the moments of brilliance and delight that come from thrilling artistic collaborations.
