The Nelson Marlborough West Coast Brass Band Competition returns to Nelson and we invite you to join us for the 'Festival of Brass' where bands present a competition programme with a focus on stagecraft, 'lighter' pieces, and a featured soloist from within the band.

Judged by two music judges (Mark Carter, NZSO and Cameron James, NZ Army Band) and entertainment judge, MP for Nelson Rachel Boyack, this will be a great night of Brass Band entertainment.

Delaney Davidson takes his band of Anniversaries on the local roads around Aotearoa. Don’t miss a night of wry humour, some theatre of unease, and a rocking collection of bangers from his extensive back catalogue as he celebrates the music that got him where he is today.

With multiple album Anniversaries this year, Delaney Davidson takes to the road in July to celebrate his extensive and star-studded catalogue with special band The Anniversaries, Heather Webb - Guitar, Alex Freer - Drums, Mark Hughes - Bass.

15 years ago, Delaney Davidson joined Reverend Beat Man - cult figure, gospel trash preacher, and founder of the hugely influential Swiss record label VOODOO RHYTHM RECORDS, to release Self Decapitation and a year later Bad Luck Man.

Self Decapitation had such hits as 'Little Heart' (Silver Scroll Finalist 2011) and barnstormer 'Dirty Dozen', while Bad Luck Man had 'You’re a Loser' (country music song of the year 2012), as well as 'I’m So Depressed', and evergreen 'Time Has Gone'. These albums cemented him into the Voodoo Rhythm Family and saw him become a distinct cult figure of the European Touring circuit.

Generally dealing with the darker side of things, Delaney Davidson has been described as “being the reigning king of capturing the essence of 'Noir' in Country and Folk Music, pushing at the framework and preconceptions of roots music with his brand of modern gothic Americana.” - Post to Wire.

Having spent the last 20 years as travelling 'troubadour' around the globe, sometimes solo, sometimes with accomplices, but always with his Ghost Orchestra, Delaney Davidson has found new focus embracing a love of Aotearoa.

Through his collaborative work with Troy Kingi - Black Sea, Golden Ladder, his visual artwork with Tame Iti, and his most current album Out Of My Head produced by Merk, he has featured such varied talents as Hayley Westenra and Reb Fountain, and has toured with Chamber Music New Zealand - all the while continuing to reinvent concepts and challenge expectations and gaining respect and admiration from audiences.

"Incontestably one of Aotearoa’s most influential and lauded contemporary songwriters” - Under The Radar

Coal Miner’s Daughter celebrates the incredible life of the late great Loretta Lynn, from her early days in the hills of Kentucky to her tempestuous marriage, tragic losses and enduring bonds with such luminaries as Patsy Cline, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, across a stellar career, till her final send off to country music heaven in October 2022.

Amber Joy Poulton (Loretta Lynn), Lizzie Moore (Patsy Cline) and The Preacher Denis Surmon (Conway Twitty & Willie Nelson), along with kickin' band The Holy Men, will sing the story of and celebrate Loretta Lynn. In floor length gowns adorned with tassels and rhinestones, with hair as close to country music heaven as possible, where country music started and still should be, in the theatre, just like the Grand Ole Opry, and it's coming to New Zealand!

This inspiring show was a smash hit at the 2025 Tamworth Country Music Festival and has played to packed theatres across Australia since its debut in 2017, but it's New Zealand that has been screaming out for a tour and the cast couldn't be more excited for their first New Zealand tour in October 2025. They will have you tappin' your toes, tilting your head and falling in love with country music all over again with hits like 'Coal Miner's Daughter', 'You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man', 'Crazy', 'You're Lookin' At Country', 'Walkin' After Midnight', 'One's On The Way', 'Stand By Your Man', 'Faded Love' and more.

On their return to the stage post covid for their 2022 tour, Amber Joy Poulton and the cast of Coal Miner’s Daughter played to more than 10,000 people across Australia and in an eerie twist of fate, were performing opening night at the very moment of Loretta’s sad passing in Tennessee in 2022.

This is a show not to be missed and with the passing of the great Loretta Lynn, there is no better time to celebrate her music.

"Loretta Lynn paved the way for women like me in country music to take centre stage" - Amber Joy Poulton star of Coal Miner's Daughter
