Event Restrictions - Traffic Light Framework

The Theatre is vaccinated space

All persons 12 years and over, will be required to present a valid vaccination pass and photo ID in order to enter the venue.
 
Use of the NZ Covid App or physical ballot box remains mandatory and the wearing of face masks is encouraged.

Green

The Theatre will operate at full capacity.

Orange

The Theatre will operate at full capacity.

Red

The theatre is closed for performances due to social distancing requirements.
The Box Office is open Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm, for refunds and complaints.
Compliments and commiseration are welcome at any time : )

Change in level - Traffic light framework

Orange to Red

If an increase to the red alert level is announced:
  • All performances programmed after Red comes into effect are considered postponed or cancelled.  The option of performances being transferred to future dates will be discussed with promoters and communicated with ticket holders. 
  • If the company is 20 members or less, they may choose to remain in the venue after the date of Red coming into effect, for the purpose of filming their performance, before packing out.
  • Pack-out may occur under Red restrictions, providing the crew necessary total less than 20, including the required venue staff.


  • Public Event Restrictions - Current Framework

    LEVEL 1

    The Theatre is open to the public for performances with no social distancing requirements or gathering limits.
    Increased cleaning, contact tracing and personal hygiene practices remain in place. Unwell persons should remain at home.

    LEVEL 2

    The Theatre is closed to the public for performances.
    The Box Office is open Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm. Visitors are required to wear a mask and scan or sign in. 
    Backstage may be occupied under the level 2 restrictions, as listed below.

    LEVEL 3 & 4

    All aspects of the Theatre are closed.

    Backstage Restrictions - Current Framework

    LEVEL 1

    The Theatre is open to the public for live performances with no social distancing requirements or gathering limits.
    Increased cleaning, contact tracing, and personal hygiene practices remain in place. Unwell persons should remain at home.

    LEVEL 2

    While performances with an audience may not proceed at level 2, a company may: pack in, rehearse, film, or pack-out, providing they meet the criteria as set out by the Ministry of Health and clarified here with details specific to our venue.
    Personal conduct
    • Regularly wash your hands.
    • Sneeze and cough into your elbow.
    • Wear a face covering if you can.
    • If you are unwell, stay home.
    Contact Tracing
    • All people accessing backstage must sign into our facility by the usual means and with the NZ COVID App.
    Social Distancing
    • Maintain 1m social distancing at all times, and 2m whenever possible.
    • Maximum 2 people per dressing room.
    • Maximum 20 people backstage at any time.
    • Avoid congregating in corridors to allow people the capacity to pass.
    • Where distancing is not possible due to the nature of work, i.e. a task that requires two or more people to be in close proximity (e.g. set construction, technical rigging, hair styling etc.), then individuals should wear a suitable face covering.
    • Technical operating positions should be spaced by 2m.
    Cleanliness of objects and surfaces
    • All surfaces and objects should be regularly cleaned and disinfected. This includes all common touch points such as handrails and light switches, plus any object being handed from person to person e.g. props or tools.  
    Technical Operating Equipment
    • Clean all operating equipment with a sanitizing wipe before first use and after last. Ensure hands have been recently washed and sanitized.
    • This includes consoles, touchscreens, wall panels, and fly tower rope locks.
    • Only persons responsible for a department should be touching equipment relating to their area. For example:
      • Fly to be solely responsible for Fly Tower rope locks
      • SX to be solely responsible for their console and equipment
      • LX to be solely responsible for their console and equipment

    LEVEL 3 & 4

    Under Level 3 & 4, the Theatre Royal is closed to all activities.

    Change of Levels - Current Framework

    LEVEL 1 to 2

    If an increase in level is announced while operating under Level 1:
    • All public shows programmed after the date of level 2 coming into effect are postponed or cancelled, effective immediately. The option of performances being transferred to future dates will be discussed with promoters and communicated with ticket holders. 
    • If the company is 20 members or less, they may choose to remain in the venue after the date of level 2 coming into effect, for the purpose of filming their performance, before packing out.
    • Pack-out may occur under Level 2 restrictions, providing the crew necessary total less than 20, including the required venue staff.

    LEVEL 2 to 3

    If an increase in level is announced while operating under Level 2, any company in occupancy must begin pack-out immediately.
