Body in Space: The Deep End, a review by Patrick Savill
On Friday 24th June 2011 Body In Space performed “The Deep End”, the first of what is soon to become a regular show. Body In Space is planning to perform one every month at the Theatre Royal, which if it were any other show would be pointless, but Nelson hasn’t seen anything like this in years if not ever.
The Deep End is brought to life by 5 improvisers which change every show and this time consisting of Doug, Kulai, Brendan, Lisa and Emma, an accomplished MC, Daniel Allen, and Roger Sanders, a musician who is no stranger to Nelson. The show was made up from a different number of improvisers playing theatre sports games at any one time and adding their quick wit and fast thinking to embellish these games.
As always with improvisation the show produced those jewels of comedy that can only be found at such performances. For the first show it set a very high standard for the rest of the shows to come. The Deep End has successfully filled a niche in Nelson that has never before been filled and does so very well.
